Who we work with, and where

Geography, the four problems we are usually called about, and the kinds of work Schkovl turns down.

Schkovl is based in Toronto, Ontario, and serves businesses across Canada and the United States. Engagements run remotely by default, which is why the service area is a region rather than a drive radius.

Local search work is a significant part of the practice, so the distinction is worth stating clearly: being based in Toronto does not mean only working with Toronto businesses. It means the company's own registered locality is Toronto, and the work travels.

Most enquiries arrive as a symptom rather than a diagnosis. The site's own entry point is organised around that, routing four common symptoms straight to the relevant practice instead of to a generic sales page.

  • Nobody is managing the Google listing — stale hours, no posts, reviews going unanswered.
  • The business is invisible on Google and absent from AI answers — competitors outrank it and get cited; it does not.
  • The site looks dated or is not converting — traffic arrives, calls do not follow.
  • The team is drowning in manual busywork — the same workflow, re-typed by hand, every day.

Four service lines cover what happens after the diagnostic, and a business may need one of them or a sequence rather than all of them.

  • Business Growth Services — Google Business Profile build-out, listing setup and correction across core platforms and industry directories, posting automation, review management and performance reporting.
  • Website Builds — custom marketing sites, high-conversion landing pages, web application frontends, Core Web Vitals work and mobile-first responsive design.
  • SEO and AEO — technical SEO architecture, on-page and content optimisation, Answer Engine Optimization, AI search visibility and keyword strategy with rank tracking.
  • Apps and Platforms — native iOS and Android apps, custom B2B and B2C platforms, web applications, agentic AI and automation systems, and API and backend engineering.

The published engagement shapes span a wide range, and that range is the honest answer to the size question. A fixed-price pilot at $199 CAD per month exists so a business can see weekly output before committing to anything larger. At the other end, a full multi-tenant platform is quoted between CAD $60,000 and $180,000 and up depending on architecture.

What the range implies is a business large enough to have a real operational gap worth diagnosing, and small enough that the gap has not already been closed by an internal team. A company with mature software and a dedicated internal engineering group iterating daily is usually past the point where an outside agency adds the most value, and Schkovl's own published guidance says so.

There is no client roster on this site. The work that can be inspected is the work that has been published: two documented technical SEO engagements in the window film and tinting sector, both with dated evidence and stated limitations, and TheCardLab.app, a trading card valuation, certification, marketplace, vaulting and market-data platform currently in market build-out.

That is a deliberately short list. A portfolio built from logos rather than from checkable evidence tells a prospective client nothing about whether the work was any good.

Some requests get declined on principle rather than on capacity.

  • Review generation or incentivised reviews of any kind — excluded from the pilot explicitly and not offered as a separate service.
  • Builds on hosted website builders, which carry recurring fees, a ceiling on future work and a migration problem later.
  • Off-the-shelf packages and fixed retainer bundles sold before a diagnostic has been run.
  • Work where the diagnostic shows the fix is operational rather than technical — Schkovl has walked away from engagements on that basis.

The intake form takes about ten minutes, and the kickoff call that follows within seventy-two hours is where fit gets decided. No invoice is issued before that call is complete.

If the conclusion is that Schkovl is not the right partner for the problem, that is the conclusion you will get. It costs less than a scoped engagement that should never have started.
